Pooloxy
Many people ask me about the Pooloxy product. Pooloxy is our active oxygen pool and spa treatment kit. It consists of a powder and a liquid. The powder is the standard active oxygen powder. The liquid however is a special formulatioin which is only availible from Chemipool. We call it our active algaecide. It has been specially formulated to work in synergy with the Pooloxy Powder. As the name suggests, the liquid contains an algaecide. It also contains other components such as a water clarifier and an antifoaming agent.
Pooloxy is very easy to use. All you need to do is to calculate the required dose for the amount of water in your pool. You add both the Pooloxy Powder and the Pooloxy Active Algaecide in equal amounts once a week. You need to add 50ml of Pooloxy Active Algaecide and 50g of Pooloxy Powder for every 1000L of water in your pool once a week. We suggest that you start with a fresh fill of water and do a double dose as soon as the pool is full. Then just add the appropriate dose once a week with a double dose once a month. For most pools this will be all you need to do. In time the Pooloxy will cause your pool to become more acidic. If you keep your pool full using Pooloxy for more than three months then you may also have to add pH increaser to raise the pH of your pool back to the correct levels. Pooloxy can also be used for treating spa water. Many spa manufacturers suggest that you change you spa water at least every three months. If you do this then in most cases nothing other than the Pooloxy is needed to treat you water. We do suggest that you monitor the pH of the water in case it changes. By doing this you will see what the pH of the water is when you first fill your pool. You will then be able to see how it changes over time. Most people are supprised to find that tap water is actually far more acidic than you may first think. pH 6 would not be unusual.
Pooloxy is safe to use if you have been using other swimming pool chemicals such as chlorine or bromine. You can readily change from one to the other as you choose.
